Croplife Ghana Elects New Executive Council Members

Ghana has elected new executive council members to steer the affairs of the organization for the next four years.

CropLife Ghana (CLG) is a non-profit making organization comprising agrochemical importers and distributors in Ghana and it is affiliated with CropLife Africa Middle East (CLAME) and CropLife International (CLI).

CropLife Ghana currently has a membership of twenty (20) companies in Ghana, including, Adama West Africa, AFCOTT Ghana, BASF, BAYER WCA-SA, CALLI Ghana, Candel Ltd, Chemico Ltd, CORTEVA, Dizengoff  Ghana Ltd, Kumark Company Ltd, Rainbow Agrosciences Ltd, REISS &Co Ghana Ltd, RMG Ghana, WYNCA Sunshine, YARA Ghana, Loius Dreyfus Commodities, Jubilee, Bon Agro, Crop Doctor, and Overseas Warehouse.

Electing executives of the association at the plush Airport West Hotel in Accra, four persons for the position of Vice President, Secretary, Organiser, and Treasurer went unopposed except the Presidential position.

Two persons  Mr. Peter Ampofo and  Mr. George Brown contested for the presidential slot but at the end of voting Mr. Peter Ampofo of  BAYER WCA-SA won the elections with over 80% of the votes cast.

Speaking after the elections, the Programs Manager of CropLife Ghana, Mr. Rashad Kadiri congratulates the newly elected executive council members and urged them to work very hard to ensure that the association succeeds in its mission and vision.

He noted that CropLife Ghana and its affiliate networks will continue to promote modern farming technics and practices, saying that, championing the use of crop protection technology is important for the sustainable intensification of the agricultural sector.

Mr. Kadiri emphasizes that CropLife Ghana’s awareness raising and stewardship activities promote the safe, responsible, and sustainable use of pesticides and fertilizers in Ghana.

He, therefore, encourages management practices that safeguard harvests, human health, and the environment.

The newly elected President of the Association, Mr. Peter Ampofo thanked members of the association for the trust they imposed on him and pledge to work with an “open door” policy to enable CropLife Ghana to succeed in its mandate.

The newly elected executives council members include Mr. Peter Ampofo, President, Mr. George S. Ocloo Vice President, Mrs. Afia Owusu Karikari- treasurer, and Mr. Kuntu Blankson and Mr. Bright secretary and organiser respectively.
